It’s fair to say that 2021 has been a rollercoaster for Southampton Football Club.
From beating the reigning champions to losing 9-0 at Old Trafford. From seeing the departure of fan favourite Danny Ings to captain James Ward-Prowse signing a new five-year contract. There have been highs and lows.
The Saints currently sit in 15th going into their final two scheduled games of 2021 against West Ham and Tottenham, with optimism that their fortunes will improve next year. 2022 will also mark a decade since the south-coast club was promoted to the Premier League.
It remains to be seen what is in store for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men in the new year and whether they will sink or swim, so why don’t we focus on what happened over the course of 2021?
