Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has delivered the latest injury update ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Burnley on Sunday.
What’s the story?
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game, the Reds boss said: “Will Sadio be available? We have to find out. We will make a decision after training. Physically we have to see how the last few days were for him. Hendo will be back. If nothing happens, he will play on Sunday.
“It’s good to have options of this quality. First time they are all fit. Taki in a good moment, Divock trains well, Ox has played well up front. That’s what we need. We had times when we had the chat group and those unavailable send messages – sometimes up to 13/14 players.”
Huge boost
After being without the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita for a number of weeks due to the Africa Cup of Nations, the return of the trio is a major boost heading into these crunch fixtures, both in domestic competitions and when the Champions League gets underway too.
The Reds are still chasing trophies across the board, and having a near fully-fit squad to choose from is the kind of luxury Klopp hasn’t been able to rely upon at all this season.
Squad rotation will be key with these games coming thick and fast, and having players like Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (15 goals between them in 2021/22) fit and available, as Klopp says, is a welcome boost for him as he looks to ease and carefully manage his star players back into the fold.
It’s exactly why Liverpool fans should be very excited to hear Klopp’s welcome injury update and should be looking forward to these next few weeks.
