Imagine him & Ramsey: GvB must unleash "exciting" Rangers dynamo with "pace and power" - opinion

Rangers will be looking to build on their 5-0 win in the Premiership on Sunday as they return to action at Ibrox tonight.

The Gers come up against Hibernian after their mauling of another Edinburgh club in Hearts and will be hoping to make it two wins out of two to wash away the disappointment of their 3-0 Old Firm derby defeat last week.

Alfredo Morelos made his comeback after international duty with Colombia and scored twice on Sunday, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men putting on a show for their home crowd.

Imagine him & Ramsey

One player who must be unleashed from the start after being on the bench for that match is Fashion Sakala.

Imagine him and Aaron Ramsey both playing alongside each other in the attack. They offered a glimpse of what it could be like against Hearts as Ryan Kent burst away down the right and had both of them making clever runs in the middle, with Sakala the one to get on the end of the cross in the end to score.

Former Gers boss Steven Gerrard previously lauded the Zambian for what he offers on and off the pitch, saying: “He’s an incredible human being. The way he has come into the club, his smile and demeanour, his attitude and energy, has lifted the whole place. The signs are he is really starting to find his feet here at Rangers. He is a really exciting one for everyone to watch moving forward.

“There will be plenty of opportunities for Fashion, not just in Europe but domestically as well. We are really starting to see his strengths, his consistency from a training point of view.”

Ross Wilson said that the winger would provide “pace and power” to the team and Gers fans have been able to see that with the 24-year-old’s electric running this season. He has completed 1.5 dribbles per game in the league and shown supporters his speed by bursting past opposition defenders with the ball.

Sakala has scored six goals and provided one assist in 19 Premiership outings, despite only starting seven times this season. It could now be time for him to start his eighth league match and pair him with Ramsey in attack. The Welshman has shown throughout his career that he can be a threat, managing 130 direct goal contributions during his time with Arsenal.

Therefore, Van Bronckhorst must ensure that the Zambia international is in the starting XI tonight, as he could provide an exciting link-up with the likes of Ramsey, Morelos and Kent.

AND in other news, Wilson has endured a big Ibrox howler over dud who’s cost Rangers £1m per league goal…
