Paper Talk: Liverpool sent warning over new link to prolific Leipzig star; Tottenham targeting Nott’m Forest duo

Liverpool plans to sign in-form Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku have been met with a strong response, Tottenham are chasing two Nottingham Forest stars, while Monday’s transfer gossip has details of a £12m midfielder deal for Manchester United.

CHRISTOPHER NKUNKU WANTED BY JURGEN KLOPP

Liverpool are reportedly planning a summer swoop for Christopher Nkunku – but RB Leipzig are refusing to let him leave without a fight.

The 24-year-old midfielder is having the season of his life at Leipzig, having scored 18 goals and assisted eight more. Those 26 goal involvements come in just 30 appearances.

That form has alerted a number of suitors, with the Frenchman previously linked with Arsenal and Manchester City.

But the Liverpool Echo claims the Reds are also keeping a close watch on his performances.

And now, amid talk of a summer swoop from Liverpool, Leipzig are pledging to do all they can to keep him.

“He will also play with us next season because of course he is a very important player,” managing director Oliver Mintzlaff told Sky Germany. When asked, he added: “In football nothing is ever certain, but that’s our plan.

“They [Nkunku, Dani Olmo and Andre Silva] are very important pillars, who can and should continue to develop with us.”

Christopher Nkunku contract details

Nkunku’s contract with Leipzig currently runs until summer 2024. As such, Leipzig will need to extend that before the summer to dissuade Liverpool from making their move.

He is currently rated at around the £50m mark – but the fee is unlikely to dissuade the Reds were they to make a move.

Jurgen Klopp is looking to add more goals to his midfield and it’s reported that he feels Nkunku is the perfect addition.

Liverpool have previously raided Leipzig twice in recent years for Ibrahima Konate and Naby Keita.
