Beale could unearth a perfect Kent heir in Rangers move for 20 y/o "playmaker" - opinion

Glasgow Rangers look set to end the month with a flurry of signings as Michael Beale looks to begin building a side that can challenge Celtic for the Premiership title next season, with the nine-point gap already looking monumental at this stage.

Todd Cantwell could be the first signing through the Ibrox doors while Belgian midfielder Nicolas Raskin has been in “advanced discussions” with the club ahead of a potential move, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, and these two players would be welcome additions as Beale looks to reinvigorate the playing squad.

The Englishman won’t be stopping there however, with at least a couple more signings surely on their way to Glasgow.

According to Football Transfers, Rangers are ‘monitoring’ the 20-year-old Romanian starlet Alexi Pitu, who plays for Farul Constanta in his homeland. Beale could snatch the youngster up and he could eventually become an heir to Ryan Kent on the left wing.

Pitu could be an ideal Kent heir

Kent’s contract expires at the end of this season and despite his return to form under Beale – scoring twice and grabbing an assist recently – there is still no word on whether he will be committing to the club or not ahead of next season.

As one of the Light Blues’ prized assets, letting him leave for free would be a colossal blunder and the 42-year-old will surely be working hard with Ross Wilson behind the scenes to produce a new long-term deal.

The Glasgow side could do with some cover on the left wing however and Pitu could be an exciting addition to the squad, especially given his performances this season.

In 19 league matches this term, the 20-year-old has scored five goals and registered five assists, offering a glimpse of what he is made of.

His fellow compatriot Gigi Becali has claimed Pitu has “exploded” recently and his statistics certainly prove that this is a breakthrough campaign for the Romanian. Talent scout Jacek Kulig has previously dubbed him a “playmaker” and he appears to have similar traits to Kent, most notably “pace” and “creativity” and this could entice him to Beale.

He should feel comfortable regarding a move to Rangers, especially with countryman Ianis Hagi at the club and the two even played together once at Viitorul Constanta.

Securing the young talent this month would represent more good business for Beale and it already looks like he is planning ahead for the future.
